One of the many fascinating aspects of Greg Scarpa’s life was his 32-year relationship with Linda Schiro. Greg Scarpa, Legendary Evil takes a critical look at that relationship, one that produced two children, endured a sham marriage for Schiro and a second marriage for Scarpa, and featured a Schiro affair which Scarpa preapproved! Below is an excerpt (annotations omitted) from that part of chapter 7, “The Mazza, Schiro, Scarpa Triangle,” analyzing the long-term relationship between Scarpa and Schiro. “Linda Schiro’s sex life, which one would assume to have been at a minimum an embarrassment to Scarpa, a man routinely referred to as her ‘common law’ husband, had no effect on his otherwise unwavering loyalty to her. And as far as can be determined, Scarpa’s additional marriage and rumored additional affair or affairs likewise had no effect on Schiro’s unwavering loyalty to him. By 1980, what had started as an extramarital affair in 1962 between a man in his thirties and a teenager had managed to survive through two additional marriages, one for each of them, the birth of two children, at least one additional affair which may have produced another child, and a long-term, unconventional sexual relationship between the teenager, by then a woman in her thirties, and a young man barely out of high school.”
