If all continues to go well, Greg Scarpa, Legendary Evil will be released on July 22nd. It is currently available for prerelease order on Amazon in its eBook form and will soon be available for prerelease order in hardcover and paperback too.
I started this project nearly three years ago, conducted research for about a year before writing a word, finished the first draft in March of last year, queried 43 agents and publishers, and now, as you can see, after rounds of editing, proofing, etc., by the folks at WildBlue Press, the end result is being offered to the public.
It has been an illuminating process, one that rarely progressed in a linear fashion. I had to overcome my initial reluctance to take on the project, various recurring levels of imposter syndrome, i.e., self doubt, and a nearly disastrous hard drive crash. I had to be attuned to the diminishing returns my research was producing, and to be ready to accept the fact that at some point I actually had to start writing even as emerging issues contemporaneously required additional research. And, of course, as I wrote and revised I had to be brutally honest with myself about my language, organization, commentary, analysis, and a host of other issues knowing there are readers (hopefully!) out there who will understandably do the same.
With all of the above thankfully behind me, I look forward to seeing how the book is received. And remember, if you read it and like it, tell 100,000 of your closest friends. I’ll keep you posted.
