The latest entry in the Nick Temple File series finds Nick in Heidelberg, Germany during the summer of 1968. Just across the border in Czechoslovakia, ordinary Czech citizens are clamoring for freedom. The tension builds as the Soviet Union contemplates a brutal response. That response comes in late August when the Soviet Union occupies Prague with 500,000 soldiers and 5,000 tanks. Nick Temple tries to convince his superiors that Russia’s next move is a mad dash for West Germany to unite a divided nation under a socialist banner. Will he succeed? Or will he and a handful of like-minded men and women be the only thing standing between an onslaught from the east and a free West Germany?
